The “Nomad Intergenerational Quiz” was organized in Kyrgyzstan to raise awareness of the importance of mobility, rangelands, and nomadic heritage. This event is part of the “Mobility Matters” campaign, and the Silk Road Caravan initiative, led by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. Kyrgyz Jaiyty integrates WAMIP and was part of the organization of this gathering that took place in Bishkek, on June 15. Bhavana Desai, WAMIP’s South Asia Regional Coordinator, also joined the Caravan.

At the Nomad Intergenerational Quiz, young people and elders came together to share knowledge, learn from each other and consider the future of pastoralism. Mobility has always been an integral part of pastoral livelihoods, enabling the efficient use of rangelands and adaptation to changing environmental conditions. Today, this experience is still vital for safeguarding cultural heritage and discussing the sustainable future of rangeland territories.
