Prospective investors, social entrepreneurs, representatives of pastoralist communities, and policy makers were brought together this week for a conference held in Nairobi – "Inclusive Investment Opportunities for Unleashing the Power of the Pastoral Sector." WAMIP representatives Benjamin Mutambukah (Eastern and Southern African Pastoralists Network) and Tezera Getahun (Pastoralist Forum Ethiopia) attended, paving the way for increased investments in the pastoral livestock sector and developing a roadmap for action. The Pan-African convening aimed to support pastoral producers by growing the economic livestock sector, thereby improving the quality, quantity, and consistency of pastoral livestock products. Additionally, representatives explored innovative opportunities to transform pastoralism, allowing for more investments by private sector actors and development partners. This event was organized by the Global Food Systems Institute at the University of Florida.
