WAMIP representative Khalid Khaweldeh will attend the upcoming Pre-Global CSO Forum Consultation, hosted by the FAO's Partnership and UN Collaboration Division, which will take place between the 6th and 7th of June, 2023 at FAO headquarters in Rome. The objectives of the consultation will be to take stock of FAO’s engagement with CSO’s at various levels, brainstorm how CSO’s can meaningfully contribute taking into account FAO’s new approach to transformative partnerships, and establish a proposal for a global CSO forum in a participatory and inclusive manner. CSO’s will be represented by 21 organisations, selected through the principles of the FAO Strategy for Partnership with Civil Society Organizations and the Guidelines for ensuring balanced representation of Civil Society in FAO meetings and processes. Khalid will travel to Rome to represent WAMIP and provide a voice to pastoralists and migratory and indigenous peoples. It is our hope that this step will be one of many towards bringing visibility to the struggles of pastoralist communities, as well as emphasising the importance of their existence. Thank you for your representation Khalid!
